Please tell me when it was that they had the moral compass?

The only thing they had was more ways to hide the fact that they had power and greed on their side.  How do we know what they were up to in reality?  And we cannot prove a thing as to what their moral standards were.  There was no National Enquirer or TV Fox News or even a reputable National News service.  So, how do we know what those clowns were up to?   They were probably all adulterers and pedophiles just like today.

Thank you for your reply. The days of long ago when opposite party members socialized together, worked together on bills and got things done and were  less vitriolic, more courteous, dare I say even cordial. The days of Tip O'Neil, a Dem and Ronald Reagan, not a Dem. For example. They were friends who happened to have different political views. That is my recollection. Yours may be different. I only speak for me. You are free to believe whatever pleases you. Happy Saturday.

A politician is not elected for his morals. He is elected to represent other people's morals. But not any specific person or any specific philosophy: he has to represent everybody. So whatever your complaint is, it does not apply. You have to get the entire electorate to agree to vote him out of office. Good luck with that.

The only purpose of a government is to prevent any other group from taking control. The duty of a citizen is to control his government. That is why governments always eventually treat citizens as enemies of the state.
