I think North America would have been independent, regardless.
There were far too many colonies of too many countries on this continent, for them to all stay colonies.
If not united under a common flag, it would have wound up similar to South America ... with nations based on being former colonies of England, Spain, France, Germany, and Russia.

It wasn't that British politicians acted in a particular manner so much as the natural, inevitable result of a course of events which, perhaps, included poor decision-making by the British. Consider the words of Dr. Benjamin Franklin:

"Never was such a valuable possession so stupidly and recklessly managed, than this entire continent by the British crown. Our industry discouraged, our resources pillaged...first of all our very character stifled. We've spawned a new race here. Rougher, simpler, more violent, more enterprising, less refined. We're a new nationality. We require a new nation."

Then came Australia with her convicts to put our new land to shame as far as changing the landscape of a society.

    For once? lol

They're stupid all the time. Hardly any of them have real-world experience.

Yeah.  Not like that super sophisticated President we are stuck with.  So smooth and intelligent.  So admirable and classy.

But what he has is real-world experience, unlike most politicians who are career politicians.

What are you babbling about now?  The bloody British are so like us that I have seen little to mark any difference.

I mean they are as militant and greedy as we are.  What is the difference?

Well, that is not fair.  Many are quite arrogant and off-putting I am told.  I think both countries have great folk in them.
