Discussion»Questions»Education» How does billions spent on schooling correlate to the dumbing down of society? Is it not so much education as it is indoctrination?
FLorida adopted the Common Core Standards and made them their own with the goal of preparing students to be college and career ready (acknowledging that some students will go to college and others will get a career in a specific skill set). In education we are teaching students to be critical thinkers(teachers aren't giving the students the answers). They are creating their own knowledge. Students have to answer high order questions (there are very few yes or no questions), use evidence from the text to justify their answer, " how do you know that is the answer?" Students are accountable for their learning.

It's probably similar to what is happening to the billions spent in the health care racket, the dental care racket, vision care racket, the Big Pharma racket, the tax racket, the "gaming" industry racket, the food industry racket, the sports racket, the entertainment racket, the information technology racket, the travel industry racket, the military-industrial racket, the housing and real estate racket, the automobile sales racket, the automotive repair racket, the auto repair parts racket, the auto insurance racket, the sweatshop clothing manufacturing racket . . .
