I guess the United States Government is ignoring the will of the people. What now?

They're just ignoring the will of the non-religious and/or poor people.

There is no such thing as "the will of the people". Society is very divided on virtually everything.

If greater than 90% of people support something, perhaps you can say that is the will of the people. Even then people should remember that the U.S. is a republic, not a democracy. In a republic, constitutional law is above the will of the people.
