  • Most atheists I know celebrate the secular side of Christmas, which includes gift-giving.

Christmas has very little relation to Christ. It was invented by Coca Cola to sell pop in winter, songs and music were written to accompany movies in the forties, and most traditions originated in movies, especially Big Crosby movies.

It is interesting that traditions involving trees go way back in a great many countries, but only in the northern hemisphere. It appears that such traditions commemorate the tree of life in the garden of Eden. Maybe not, but whatever it was, everybody was looking at the same thing.

Yes 'course. Years before I decided atheism was in my best interest I had belonged to the Baha'i Faith religion and still celebrated Christmas with family. Still do now.
