  • I don't have one.  I like the old flip phones that are more reliable and more secure.

    Hear hear!!!

I, too, carry a little Samsung Gusto flip and love it for when away from home.  I use my landline at home for my real chatting.

  • @ both of you.
I always get a strong signal and my battery last a week even under heavy use. Smartphones don't offer that.  Besides using them to check anything on the internet is annoying as hell to me.   Even a 7 inch tablet results in way too much scrolling to be worth the time and effort most of the time.  Typing or clicking on a touch screen blows.

That's what I have and I hardly ever use it. I don't think anyone who would answer my question 'Yes...No' would respond here.

  • The only downside and this very , very insignificant, is that when I use it at the bar I look like a coke or weed dealer with a burner phone.

  • At this point in my life, it would be very difficult to live without it. I am admittedly addicted to it, as are many people of my generation.

Just like Adele, I have a flip phone. The only reason I have any portable phone is because it is required for my job.

No.  On the contrary, I use it to control others access to me.  I check it at my convenience and do not keep it on my person unless I am expecting a call or a text.  And if I get an unidentified number, I check it on Google. If it comes up as probably spam, I add it to my address book with the name "SPAM."

Does electricity control you? Does indoor plumbing control you? Do antibiotics control you?

It doesn't control me and I could live without it, but, like many modern conveniences, I would be less comfortable without it.

    Sure doesn't control me
but it is an invaluable item that serves me well
    in my occupation.

It hardly controls me any more than my car does, but it IS indispensable.

    No and Yes!

Having very recently been bounced into buying a fancy new phone and a non-refundable 24-month EE contract when all I wanted was what the Orange telesalesman had recommended when he saw how little I use it - have my existing phone's card changed from Orange to EE on same number and PAYG.

The contract had included full internet / landline service too, but I managed to cancel that part and retrieve their BT service on a new contract comparable with what EE had charged for similar.

I still end up paying £250 over two years where previously I'd have paid probably well under half that, for my portable 'phone.

The original problem? Trying to obtain a service with better coverage in some areas I visit.
