Are junk drawers a resting place for stuff on its way to the trash heap? If it's junk, why not junk it instead of storing it?

    Possibly but think of them as a place for miscellaneous items not yet filed and categorized when same type objects are too few in number to warrant space devoted to them. This post was edited by O-uknow at November 26, 2017 9:48 AM MST

    That 's a good point O. There are things that take awhile to figure out where they belong best. So in a way a junk drawer is a transit point for other destinations, not all of which are the trash heap. Thank you for your reply! :)

    In the kitchen we have a couple of drawers that contain miscellaneous items that we use often. There is no other place to store them. We call them junk drawers, but they are really not.

    I've done that, then find a need for the thing I just chucked, usually within 24 hours of the garbage truck leaving. I've learned not to mess with Murphy, he's a sonofab**ch.
