The very best level some can reach is mediocrity. If that is the template used to measure success is that why the US is such a mess?

 Vilify/demonize/attack excellence. Intelligence/morality/integrity are too P.C. Strive for ordinary average typical. Dumb down every chance you get. Stick with 3-letter words. Make sure your kids do the same. Fit in. Don't make waves. Be part of the crowd. You can't trust excellence/intelligence. SIGH

    How does that follow?

    We are victims of a society that is half idiot.   I don't think mediocre is even reached by these morons.

    Thank you for your reply Sharon. If mediocrity is the template used by those in power (who are very mediocre or less currently) then that is the height we can reach. It is limited by THEIR mediocrity and now that becomes the template. You see? If EXCELLENCE were rampant and our leaders were EXCELLENT and SUPERIOR and BRILLIANT then THAT would be the template.  A mediocre leader  supported by mediocre people who adore him is not going to aspire to being excellent. He doesn't have the right stuff. So as he assumes he is the best there is though woefully lacking and inadequate HE  becomes the template. I think I just beat a dead horse.
