Timi xxxx (can't remember) recorded it first in like the 50s/60s. Then Bobby Vinton recorded it. Then I think Elvis might have. I recently heard the Juice Newton version and love it. The video is stupid though. I should have copied one of the videos that just had a picture of the album cover or something.
I must have been in a sappy love mood -- my comments about the video were entirely positive. I liked the video but I like more your sharing your thoughts about the video, ha! :)
"Yes" ... cover of a very popular, classic country song that has been covered by MANY artists. I'm sure the older generation will see this as some kind of sacrilege ... but I like this cover.
Gritty! He's got a great style here - - but when doesn't he? I've not heard a lot of his stuff but I've never heard him sound bad. Thanks, Sharonna! :)
Perfect answer Welb, Because that's the exact same thing I think. And I'm perfect.
Hee hee
He makes a STRANGE take on all his stuff and some of it is the best stuff I ever listened to. A lot I have not heard -- but I love the strange weird stuff I have heard.
I have to admit I don't like the woman's singing voice but I like how the handsome guy looks in the photo! Ha! In spite of my comments, I enjoyed listening to the song! I like its simplicity -- voice and guitar.
WAIT!!! Is this the song from "Grease" -- "You're the One that I Want"? I take it all back if it is -- I like this version much better than the movie/musical version! :)
EXACTLY!! I now LOVE this song, too! And her voice makes the "sounds-nothing-like-the-original-song" cover here sound so much better! This is the way to make a cover - - make a totally different-sounding song. I lvoe when artists do that. Thanks for answering, Jaimie! :)
Me, too. Sharonna! I've done a complete turn-around on this song -- now that I know it's a cover to that Grease song - - I love it! It sounds nothing like the original. :) And her voice makes it even better. Funny how I didn't like her voice when I first listened. :)
