Some people can fight over anything and nothing.

This site is just about the same as far as political posts go. Been on some and it's tame here compared to other sites. Politics rarely makes a person feel all fuzzy inside..

Hi Carbonproduct.  I echo the opinion that it can get nasty on both sides.  It's hard to see if you favor one side over another.

I have never seen a site where it was tame on BOTH sides...ever.

Ignore is all you can do.  I know that is what I do.  You can try a site that has blocking and just block all the Trump haters.  But you may find there won't be too many left to chat with.

Heck, I've seen people get all upset because someone disareed with the type of ice cream is best!  Politics is worse, but can be funny as heck! lol

I learned a long time ago that you aren't going to sway people with politics and religion.  Those are passionate topics.  Politics can be very ugly and I have seen it on both sides.  I happen to think it comes more from one side over another, but that is surely my own bias.  I can admit that.

The only safe sites I can think of are the ones who don't have politics or religion on the topics list.
There are plenty that has subjects on many different things like, cooking, children, money, animals.
So it's just a matter of what people like to talk about.

If I could ever find such a site that was like our old Shine, I would be there in a heartbeat.  I loved it there and the format was great.  People posted a lot of deep questions that had nothing to do with politics.  Only a handful ever talked politics and you could easily avoid them.

It was the only place I felt "safe" to post the personal stuff; stuff that others could connect to.  We never worried over trolls mucking up the works there.  I guess it was a different time tbh.  Chat groups were still in their infancy and not everyone with a device was online.  I'm glad for the friends I made there.  Pretty amazing some of us are still closer than ever.

I never felt like an outider. There really were no cliques, because most everybody were friends with one another. To this day we were blessed to remain friends from those who once Shined with us!

Even the rare political debate never went personal.  We had friends from both sides of the political arena and we respected each other. This post was edited by PeaPod is just popping by at December 15, 2017 7:19 AM MST

I don't understand why other sies can't do th same as Shine did. The worst name I was called was "Shorty"----lol  But I guess Shine was as unique as sites come.

Shine was always meant to be a sort of support group for women, although we had lots of great guys on there.  It was never meant to be an opinion site meant to slap at the other side.  It was nice and very uplifting.  I think it brought out the best in everyone.

It's hard to be educated and still like Trump.

But I do not hate the man---although after he leaves the presidency, there will be a lot of crap that would otherwise not have to be cleaned up.

And that doesn't even begin the address the damage he is doing in general.

One of the reasons I wanted children was to prove that raising them just wasn't as hard as the results that I observed appeared to indicate.

My 3 boys, their friends, and a few professionals are all impressed with how I did it.

Evaluating Trump is even easier---although again, the results that I have observed appear to indicate otherwise.

I don't know anyone who appears to lean right to be obnoxious like some of the lefties are.  That goes for here as well as in general.  It has to do with being secure in your philosophy of life.

You mean to the left.  It's the left wingers that have such an issue with the current administration and life in general.

I think politics and religion are always heated topics.
I do understand though....sometimes I have to take a break from it myself.

I wish people would spend more time looking for the good in situations and other people, than spending all their time bashing another person or people.

But isn't it the "leftists" who hate on here?  I certainly don't feel comfortable with much that they post.
