How often, and for how long, do you have to take a break from news and politics?

It depends on what is going on.
But most news sources repeat the same stories every hour so I take breaks from it when they do that.

Do you work for Congress?  What break.  You can hide your head in the sand, but the situation does not go away.  I can understand how you feel, if it affects you so much to actually ruin your thought processes and make you lose sleep or even make you angry, it is time to step back.

And I understand that with all the filth and lies that are being passed back and forth by the two ruling parties, if you live in the States, can ruin anyone's day, I really can't argue much.  I just remember my choice to ignore what is going on in the past because I feel so helpless, that I needed to just let it go.  It didn't help.

I don't mean to ruin your day?  But it didn't help at all.

  • The question was about how often and for how long you take a break from it. It wasn't a plea for someone to angrily preach towards me. Please don't answer any of my questions again.

Who's preaching?  I thought  I was on your side.

Staying away didn't help at all.  Don't shoot the messenger, lady.  The one's who cannot take a discussoin, don't seem to be able to take even talking about politics.  Have a nice day.

You're being awfully aggresive for no good reason.

Everyone has the right to answer any question they choose. You, lady, have the right not to respond.

I haven't always agreed with Sharonna, but she didn't deserve what you dished out.

  • How about this? You deal with people the way you want to and I'll deal with them the way I want to. I'm not interested in life advice from you.

  • I don’t watch the news very often. It feels too much like manipulation. Talking about politics online is a good way to make yourself unpopular This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at December 14, 2017 3:20 PM MST

I don't live in the White House.

I have a life.  The White House is affecting my life.  My friend just applied for Obamacare as it stands today and was told he needed to pay 600 a month.  That is not the Obamacare I ever heard of.

    This is TRUMP care.
That is what it is and I think the White House needs a housecleaner.  Pronto

I don't mind the news/politics. I just hate the ignorant commercials that play over and over again.

  • I take a break from the circus news/politics often. I wouldn't be able to stay sane if I didn't.

  • The breaks are coming much more often and they are lasting longer than before. I used to be a political junkie, couldn't live without it. Now I have no desire to live with it.

  • You'll only have to avoid about half of this data base to do that here. :)  Nice car/avatar!!

I don't know of anyone that doesn't need time to just "be" in order to allow the brain to rest.  (Interestingly, when you have a serious head injury, the major treatment is rest---and playing games is contraindicated.)  That just indicates to me that even a break from some modes of mental activity are necessary to allow our brains / minds to recover---whether it be from injury, intellectual trauma, or even participating in what we think to be fun.
