If Donald Trump were not President, what would you mostly complain about?

I have to get off here before I remember I am supposed to be civil.

Hours later.  I apologize. Sometimes I talk about Politics too much and act just like the person I loathe the most.

Good idea because you've been pretty insufferable lately.  Apparently, none of us is allowed to have an opinion if it isn't in lockstep with yours.

I understand and there have been a number of things that the public did not want that got written into law.  Obamacare was widely unpopular and, if you recall, it was rammed through, much the same way that this GOP tax bill is probably going to be, because the GOP has the entire majority, the same way the Democrats had the majority.  The Democrats could have and should have been able to override the NRA when they had all the power, but didn't.  Personally, I don't believe there should ever be a time when one party controls the entire country. 

I agree that the democrats and President Obama could have done a lot when they had the power to do so, but I don't believe that there was the same fear and sense of urgency before Aurora and Sandy hook.
President Obama and Vice President Biden consulted with a large group of professionals from all areas of the issue to come up with some very good gun safety legislation and the republican congress had a real chance to show that they would do what was best for the safety of americans regardless of party or lobbyists.
They got scared that they would get a bad rating from the NRA and that they wouldn't get re elected and so they shot down every single proposal.
Even for universal background checks which Americans from both parties overwhelmingly supported.
The republican congress saved their own necks rather than doing what was right for the country in my opinion.
They are on the wrong side of history.
Anything and EVERYTHING that can be done to help stop at least some of these mass-shootings should be implemented.
Gun safety, gun show loop holes, easy availability of assault type rifles and high capacity magazines are one factor.
Mental health is a factor as well, so is the extensive media coverage and attention these Killers get.
Everything is a factor and should be dealt with piece by piece.
I think the republican congress were on the wrong side of history and they did stand in the way of progress in my opinion.

You're right.  That's the trouble with Congress these past years - they do what is expedient for themselves rather than what's best for the country in general. 

I personally cannot understand all the cuts looking to happen to people that need it the most.  My disabled son depends on Medicaid and guess what these bastards with the best healthcare are going after?  I'm sick of this attitude that we should only take care of our own butts and the hell with everyone else.  I'm sorry, but I do see that mentality with a lot of conservatives.

They were representing the Republicans whom voted for them. We don't need gun control. We need to enforce the laws we have.
