To get to sleep, yes. What sometimes happens to me is waking up too early (at around 5 or so) and being unable to get back to sleep. But I very rarely have any trouble falling asleep in the first place.
My sleep patterns are frustratingly unpredictable.
They changed when I had to look after my mother, keeping an ear alert for the sound of the rustle of her sheets. I had to get there before her feet hit the floor, to help her get to the bathroom, clean her up, and help her get back to bed without a fall and broken bones.
Since then, nothing has worked to guarantee good sleep: Ensuring that I get up at the same time each day no matter how I feel, exercise to exhaustion, hot shower before bed, drinks of valerian and chamomile, or milk, banana, honey and vit B, switching off TV and computer three hours before bed time, reading something boring, and meditation.
I've become accustomed to coping with my brain operating at less than optimum, and tolerating the feelings of chronic fatigue.
I haven't been to a doctor to ask for sleeping tablets because I know they have long term adverse side effects.
I’m currently looking after my sick mother aswell. She has emphysema, I don’t find it easy either.
