Discussion»Questions»Health and Wellness» Older muggers...Did you inherit the 'shrinking' gene? I have shrunk 3" in 15 years. If I live to be 90, I will be the size of a GI Joe doll.
Over the years (40+) I have only work two brands of shoes---Rocky and Allen Edmonds. Rocky for every day wear and Allen Edmonds for dress.
About 10 years ago, I was re-measured at my doctor's office and I had gained an inch. (Same shoes I always wear to him.)
Unless the scale (you know the tall one that measures your height optionally) had been tampered with, there was no explanation---although at this precise moment, perhaps some chiropractic manipulations had affected my inter disk space.
I'm a young man, so, I have to wait a little while before the shrinkage happens. But short as I am at only 5'5", I hope I don't lose too much. My maternal grandfather was 5'0" as an older man, but I guess he was about 5'2" - 5'3" range when he was younger. Maybe I'll end up like that. I look just like him.
Yes, that's very annoying. A few years ago I bought new pants because my waist had increased by four inches. I was trying to pretend it was only two inches, but I finally gave up and bought new pants. I was shocked to find that I no longer wore a 30" inseam. Now I go looking for new pants and I am even shorter and fatter than that.
