John Mellencamp says it all in his song; 'Small Town'.

  • Don't know the song but must be positive toward small towns. Appreciate the response.

I like to live in a small town but be able to enjoy the big city life.  Or better said, I like to live on the outskirts of a big town.

  • Thus the suburbs were made, best of both worlds.  thanks,

    Yes.
Generally speaking, I prefer small-town life. There's more of a kinship among neighbors and I appreciate the quiet. On the other hand, I like having 24-hour stores and hospitals close by, so I will probably never really live too far out in the boondocks.

  • Have to give up something to get something and the city wins on conveniences.

A small town, small enough that you can drive a short distance and be in the woods.

  • So you want the small town and outdoors combo. Appreciate the answer, Many like that scenario.

Neither - I prefer the wealthy suburbs.

I don't like small town living because 'everybody' knows what 'everybody' else is doing.
Eg. I went to visit our local Pentecostal church one Sunday then 'everybody' just assumed I had become a religious fanatic.
    Stuff like that.

  • Although I live in the second largest city in my state, I live on the very outskirts of it. It has all of the conveniences without any of the headaches associated with living downtown. Sort of the best of both worlds. Big city and small town. This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at January 16, 2018 9:17 AM MST
