Trump won among White women voters because he addressed their concerns/fears more so than the token female candidate. If this is trending can we say goodbye to "Tokenism"?
It was 1928 the last time the GOP won without a Nixon or a Bush on the ticket. Americans have always elected the sleaziest candidate they could find. It seems the GOP has a hard time finding somebody sleazy enough.

I think the Democrats jumped the shark on the sleazometer this time.
If you were too young to be paying attention, why do you mention Hoover and 1928? FDR brought the US out of the Great Depression and through a war that defeated imperialist Japan and Nazi Germany. He also created the Securities and Exchange Commission to prevent a repeat of the crash of 1929, founded the March of Dimes to help cure childhood diseases such as polio, and instituted Social Security, which nobody, Republican or Democrat, wishes to get rid of.
Nobody talks about Truman? Are you kidding? Have you ever read any books on US history after FDR and WWII? He only navigated the end of the war with Japan and was instrumental in the prosecution of Nazi war criminals.
As for Eisenhower, he brought us the interstate highway system and created NASA and the space program. If you think he "demonstrated that the country doesn't need a president," then perhaps you should study some history and try to be less uninformed.

Stu, the "depression" was characterized by increased consumption of meat and butter, and increase in charitable donations. Those are considered signs of prosperity, although the people were inclined to whine about the numbers. In the 40s, the nation had shortages of gas, cars, rubber, and food was so short that people had to plant gardens to grow enough to eat. Those are considered signs of poverty. You have been taught political slogans instead of history.
And you, apparently, have been taught nothing of consequence. You appear totally ignorant of anything that happened before you were born. For example, did you know that during the Great Depression more than 15 million people were unemployed and that half the banks in the US failed? And that there were shortages in the 1940s due to wartime production? Go ahead, keep being ignorant and telling me that I know nothing about history, in which I just happen to hold a college degree. Nothing like the pot calling the kettle black.
