We have an expression 'man up'. Why is there no expression 'woman up'?

I have used that expression with my daughter and her friends. 

The politically correct wallahs want you to say person up. 

They don't have to man-up because:


The expression of a woman (man-up) I've heard is..Put on your big girl panties,

Well as others have hinted, it's used to women too.. Woman up is an interesting idea tho.

I absolutely hate the expression "man up".

Because English-speaking cultures are still full of rampant sexism;
most people don't associate being a woman with courage and responsibility,
even though the adult duties of a woman, irrespective of her roles and work, require both.

That came from a Southern Criminal Court Judge who also had a TV show for a time, Judge Joe Brown.  He told sorry young men to man up faster than a knife fight in a phone booth!

There's an equivalent.
