Yes, there should have been but the owners did not like the way the ship looked with that many lifeboats on it and dso they did not put them all on. There has been a law passed because of the Titanic that requires the proper amount of boats to passengers.
They didn't like the LOOKS? Seriously m2c? Oh my gosh. So it was a public relations decision that caused the deaths? Deaths that could have been prevented. Wow! Thank you for the info. It's kinda disgusting how evil people can be when money or status or appearance is involved. :(
They believed they created an unsinkable ship...so the lifeboats were an unnecessary nuisance. Titanic‘s Captain, Edward J. Smith, had said of the Adriatic several years earlier: “I cannot imagine any condition which would cause a ship to founder. I cannot conceive of any vital disaster happening to this vessel. Modern shipbuilding has gone beyond that.”
Wow! So much for certitude. So much for an iron-clad belief that caused the deaths of people. Sadly. Thank you for the additional info. Funny m2c but I retroactively feel so sad for those people. Unnecessary deaths of innocent people always make me sad. :(
