Have you ever cut a hole in a piece of bread and fried an egg in it?

I am going to go do that right now. It is so good.

Yes I have. I ate the cutout bread so it would not be wasted. Then I had an egg with a crust. I decided that idea was not as good as it seemed at first.

Here is a better idea: crack the egg into a bowl and separate the yolk any way you know how. Fry the whites however you like them and add the yolk before the whites are done. This gives a much nicer egg. Serve the toast separately.

Yes.  We used to make them when I went on an overnight at camp.  We called them One-Eyed Jacks.

I don't think I ever made them or ate them after camp. :)

I first saw it done in the movie Moonstruck. The mother made it and it looked so good. Then I saw it again in the Meddler and she made it look a little easier so I thought I would try it and now I am hooked on it.

I went to camp in 1953 - long before Moonstruck. :)

I once cut up a tuna can to try to do the same thing without the crust. The egg stuck to the can and it was not great.
