    "When I was a child,
    I caught a fleeting glimpse
Out of the corner of my eye
I turned to look but it was gone
I cannot put my finger on it now

    The child is grown
    The dream is gone
    And I have become
    Comfortably numb"

     ~ David Gilmour, Roger Waters

I always related to this one as well.  Another song with incredible lyrics that describes the numbness that comes after incredible pain.

Cat Stevens - Oh Very Young

Oh very young, what will you leave us this time
You're only dancin' on this earth for a short while
And though your dreams may toss and turn you now
They will vanish away like your dads best jeans
Denim blue, faded up to the sky
And though you want them to last forever
    You know they never will
    (You know they never will)
And the patches make the goodbye harder still.

It's pretty profound if you listen to the words.  Haunting too.  Makes me misty eyed every time.

None of us can ever have our youth again.

"If I hide myself wherever I go, am I ever really there?"

This is one of my favorite songs of all time. It's about not being yourself in a relationship- hiding parts of you from someone because you aren't prepared to share them with anyone.

Because you know I'm all about that bass 'Bout that bass, no treble.

The depth of this lyric is beyond comprehension.
I can't even get through this song without crying.

I had to think about the lyrics.  Joe Cocker, You are so beautiful.  Always loved that one too. This post was edited by PeaPod is just popping by at February 24, 2018 11:10 AM MST

I like "End of the Line," too - -  I don't think the song was there when I answered. I'm glad to see it.
    :)
Traveling Wilburys or something like that? I know Tom Petty is in there somewhere.

Sure, why not. In fact I'll share a couple of lines with you:

And I have lost one tooth, and I walk a little lame,
    And I haven't got time for the waiting game . . .
