Uh, I guess it would help here, to be a tad more specific as to communion. Communion with Whom? With God, with Christ (Yeshua Elohim), with Haile Selassie... ? :-)
In a more general or global sense, though, hallucinogens act on the temporal lobes, so religious experiences are extremely common among users.

Have never quite experienced marijuana as a hallucinogen, though I've heard it can have those properties.
I suppose it might depend on things like the variety of the plant, how it is grown, and what the particular biochemical properties are.
