There once was a tiny bit of green growing in the garden. It was a baby sunflower plant, but it was so small, everybody made fun of it. The pickle plant grew longer and longer and bragged about it's vines. The kohlrabi plant popped out of the ground and bragged about it's solid bulb. The poor sunflower could only cry and wait for the day it would be king of the garden. After all, didn't the queen of the hummingbirds promise the sunflower it would someday reign over everyone? Then the sunflower began to grow and grow. By September, it was 14 feet tall!

Wait! this is more like a fable.  This is a proverb:  "Don't eff with the little guy, or someday he might fall over on you."

As happy as a tree that knows it is about to be saved from the woodsman’s axe by a crowd of dotty but implacable, well-meaning tree-huggers.

It’s a long lane that has no 'cul-de-sac' alert at the junction.

I thought the IDEA of a PROVERB is that it has been passed DOWN?

    So, this is stretching it.

    Ok.  I'll try.

Man with forked tongue should not french* balloon.

*french kiss, sticking tongue inside mouth.
