That was one exception.  A nun who incidentally, could prophesize, much like say an ice cream vendor was a prophet.

So, you found one that could.  You did NOT support the fact that what you said initially was total nonsense.

Nuns are not known for prophesy.

1 Corinthians 14:31 For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.

If Catholics were Christian, they would all be able to prophesy.

What's your point?  That nuns can tell the future.  Because that is what the topic was before you interjected this.  Whatever it is.   People cannot prophesy because it is not even a word.

As for Catholics or atheists, if you have the gift of prophesy, you have it.  If you cannot see past your physical nose, then you don't have it.  Period.

According to the bible, it means to speak for God.

Well, I don't think most people understand what it IS to BE a nun.  

You have to want to be born into totally giving yourself to the spiritual path.   Forcing women to be chaste forever is really asking for guilt and shame to follow.

Most people are not ready to be forced to give up things they are not ready to know if they can even GIVE up. Plus the church does not give people tools necessary to even understand the value of giving up desires.   This is a path that comes at the END of enlightenment, not at the beginning.  You have to be ready and prepared for such a sacrifice.  For if you are?  It really is no sacrifice at all.  IT is a gift.  It is freedom unlike no other.

Desirelessness and living in the now is true bliss.  See?   A true student of the craft.

My mother said she simply fell apart.  She couldn't handle the requirements.  She was a very young girl that was the oldest of 13.  I would imagine she was looking for something to give her life meaning. 

Exactly.   I guess it did give her life meaning.  It taught her to chose a different path.  Good for her for knowing her heart.

My mother had her issues, but she really was the most honest person I ever knew.  She could never pretend to be someone or something she wasn't.  I would like to say she was a happy person after leaving the convent, but she wasn't.  I think she always suffered from depression and being a wife and mother was also hard for her.

I hope she is happy now.   (I know she probably is gone from the earth, but she deserves some peace.)
