Not counting long weekends, I haven't had a proper holiday in years.
The last one ended on a Friday - specifically 2nd January 2015. The day my mother died. I'd spent a week in Sydney to say goodbye, had to return to work on the 5th so I left at midnight on the 2nd and drove 16 hours back to Adelaide. The news came through that she'd passed away less than an hour after I arrived home. Flew back for the funeral a week later.
