You must be speaking of Florida Gov. Rick Scott !    I bet the same Governors were the ones that refused to take the Medicaid funds to underwrite ACA  in order to sabotage that program !

@pom50 and his fellow bigoted Herberts --

It is a statistical fact that Poor City Niggers commit more crimes than rural white people. So, on the basis of "security", shouldn't the governors of states like South Dakota reject "refugees" from places like Chicago?

The "logic" with respect to states being able to reject Syrian refugess who have legally entered the United States is EXACTLY the same.

If you don't want to be called out for advocating bigoted f***tard policies, don't advocate for bigoted f***tard polices. I will not mince words on this subject. Just because F***ING HADJIS are currently an acceptable group to be a bigoted f***tard about, while advocating the same policy for Poor City Niggers will cause  social ostracization and possibly legal consequences in some contexts, doesn't make the bigoted f***tardery implicit in Gov. Abbott's proposal any more justifiable.

As for your ad hominem so-called rebuttals, I note with sadness the predictablilty of them and the lack of any cogent counterargument against the fairly obvious flaws (both legally and morally) in Gov. Abbott's proposal.

@TM -- If you would, I don't know, maybe do a little bit of research from time to time, it would help you avoid making non-reality-based statements like:

"Wonder why the Islamic countries are not accepting any of the so-called refugees?"

How could that happen ?  By your own admission everyone in your town is armed to the teeth and guns reduce crime ,remember ?  You got stats to prove it....LOL

I think all this downplaying of real fears cast aside as suddenly racist is doing citizens a disservice. Not all who feel unsafe are racist, some feel rightfully so after what happened with Germany and even in some other countries where it was found that newly arrived refugees are not accepting of anyone else.

I'm sorry but all those you mentioned don't come from countries who have large radicalized organizations taking over whole towns and cities. Also people who been in America for a long time have a record, makes them easier to tell who they are with background checks. A lot more harder with newly arrived people who could potentially belong to those groups because they have no record, no anything telling who they are. I'm sorry if that's the way you live but don't expect anyone else to put aside their safety for you or anyone else who thinks collectively.

  • Yes I'm all for it. I hope it passes... let other states take the brunt of it. No need to go down with the ship just because other people want to.

  • Deaves... right around to what I said. Certain states can deal with those things then. I won't miss it, I promise :)

American citizens have the right to travel among the states; that comes to us through the Privileges and Immunities Clause of the Constitution.   It is generally referred to as Freedom of Movement.

  • Some states are struggling with high unemployment and are barley making ends meet. Adding more to them could cause a lot more harm. I say let the state decide if they can handle an influx in it's population.
