Does it take a lot of intelligence to make up for a lack of common sense?

Many in the World are starving for common sense and honesty...

Lack of common sense means you'll only look one way before crossing a busy street or try to walk across the river because it got cold enough last night to form a layer of ice so any great amount of intelligence will never do you any good if you are not even going to survive until you make to age 30.
