No idea, I've been so out of the loop lately I wasn't even aware of what was happening in the news in real life, let alone online. Cool if there are newbies I say, fresh people to *debate* with :P
AB is so dead that "Anonymous" is on the leaderboard. (Posts by "Anonymous" come from the archives, 8 or more years old.)
People at fluther.com are so unfriendly that I don't even check to see if they still tolerate each other. That's the place where if someone disagrees, they demand that you cite a source. I mentioned that children learn most of their social skills from their mothers and the response was "Oh yeah? What's your source?"
Amirite.com is strong, but needs more imaginative members. Imagination sticks out so much that when I registered a sock puppet, they knew right away who I was.
Answers.yahoo.com is taken over by wackos. I had almost a half million answers when they banned me. They wouldn't even tell me why.
Blurtit.com was looking poorly the last time I checked. I haven't cared enough to check again.

I'm laughing about Amiwrong. They really are a tight clique, so if you aren't part of the SodaHead alumni, you may have trouble fitting in. I notice they still battle out the same things they did on SH. SH has been closed for 3 years. Of course this is not all their members since we have a few really good ones that post here as well. I personally had no desire to relive SodaHead myself.
I'm not aware of any site closing down. The few sites that have been mentioned do have some really nasty, aggressive people that cannot have a civil discussion about politics without personal attacks. Maybe a few more have come here since personal attacks aren't what makes this site tick.
