But he CRITICIZED Obama for doing that very same thing! Obama's purpose may have been the very same thing. It's OK when the doofygoofylucy does (amount of time he plays golf for instance) but not OK when Obama did (whose amount of time playing is laughably minimal compared to the king of golf!)
The purpose is to send a message, not end up killing Russians. They need to make sure no Russians die or this could escalate disastrously. Russia should be told exactly what the targets are and the exact time of the strike.
The Syrians had no motive to use chemical weapons. Makes no sense. It was almost certainly Islamic State that did it to frame Assad. The establishment is putting out fake news because it doesn't want the military pull out.
Trump is in a difficult position. He will know it's bullsh*t but saying so is problematic. His enemies would accuse him of being in Russia's pocket. By going along with it to some extent, he can appear to be tough on Russia/ Syria, project strength, and boost his opinion polls by kicking some ass. It's a bit Machiavellian for my taste, but I guess this kind of ruthlessness is what it takes to be president.
