Not sure what "human error" at self checkout would be? But those 8 stations in the local stores move MUCH faster than even the "express" cashier lanes.
I'm not sure what you are talking about. People with large amounts of stuff go through regular lines so they don't have to handle all that crap one more time, so it's much faster to take small orders through the self checkout lines. There are always some open, even when one is not working.
