If given the choice between a sample and an example, which one would you prefer? ~

    That recalls a nice word study in the bible. The word "ensample" is mentioned several times, and one might wonder what is the difference between sample, example, and ensample.

    A sample is a part of something intended to represent the whole thing. An ex-ample is a sample out, and an en-sample is a sample in. So if someone is an example, that would imply they were given to show you what kind of people they are, but if someone is an ensample, that implies they were given to show you what kind of people YOU can be.
