What is a vice your parent(s) had when you were growing up that you did not emulate now that you're an adult? ~

For example, my mother started smoking cigarettes when she was 17 years old (and pregnant), I was her third child, she was 21 when I was born, and she has been a smoker since she first began.  I do not smoke, nor do I like to be around cigarette smoke and cigarette smokers.

My mother didn't have any vices. 100% pure saint. Children were her passion - a teacher, then mother, then grandmother.

Dad sometimes used to drive while intoxicated. That, I don't do. When I drink, the car stays at home.

Does other smoke bother you? Cigars/pipes? Weed? Wood or coal smoke? Barbeques? Or just cigarettes?

    Cigars. YES.
    Pipes. Yes.
    Weed.  YES.  (The stench also.)

Wood, coal, barbecue. I don't relish just standing around permeated in smoke, but at the same time, those three smell better than the choices above.

My parents drink....not eccessively and did drive buzzed. And smoke.
In fact, my daughter said once told me "she did not want to smoke when she becomes a Grandma"...all three Grandmas smoke so she thought it was a requirement.

I don't smoke. I used drink occasionally but never any driving and do not drink anymore.
I don't curse either which my parents do some.

  • No real vices ...

My Mother drank RC cola like it was going out of style!
My Father traded cars every six months (never new or leased).

    I don't do either.
