Would you rather...?

1.  Correct your grammar mistakes, misspelled words, missing words or extra words when you notice them after you made a post and have an edit notice at the bottom of the post?

2.  Have a clean post without an edit notice but with your grammar mistakes, misspelled words, missing words or extra words glaring at you and driving you nuts?

#1.  I'm a perfectionist and mistakes drive me crazy!

Are you suggesting a built in auto correct?

I have Randy D who is great at "auto-correct."

      I love you, Morning Star.

I prefer not to make mistakes, but if I do, I always drink Dos Equis.
    1. Because I do make mistakes.

    3.  I prefer to delete the post altogether, correct my mistakes, and re-post it anew. The only time I don't do that is when there are at least two or three responses to my post, because if I delete my post, I also delete those other members' responses, which I see as being unfair to them.
(Here in the main room, the edit notification does not appear on questions that one posts, only on answers and comments. In the Adult Groups, it does not appear at all.)

As for selecting either of the choices you posed, I prefer number 1 if and when number 3 is not viable.

You can edit your question. At the top is a 'Rename' option, a 'edit description' option and a 'delete'

Yes, I'm aware of the (poorly labeled) "Rename" button, and I use it quite frequently. My point was that I prefer not to have the "This post was edited . . . " box show up, so I stray from using it in instances where it might appear.

  • I've always been intrigued by this. When does "This post was edited . . . " box  appear, and when not? This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at May 7, 2018 6:54 AM MDT

It appears on answers and comments made in the main room when the person who has posted them selects the "Edit" button and submits a change, addition or correction to their original post. (As shown above in yours.). The same feature does not work in the Adult Groups.

Gotcha. That would imply a mistake and weakness.

I don't always read what I have just posted.

Within the last 6 months or so, someone made an inaccurate assumption of what I edited and why I did so.

So when I do make an edit, I usually state why at the bottom of my edited post---grammar, change of a word, misspelling, whatever I changed.

Edit:  made months a plural noun, added to the second sentence   (And no, I didn't plan this to elucidate what I meant.) This post was edited by tom jackson at May 7, 2018 6:55 AM MDT

A third option is to delete the whole post and write it better.
On various occasions I have chosen all 3.

Randy mentioned a third option.  I see there was also a fourth option!
