Of course we all prefer our own languages I suppose. But would it be advantageous for every schoolchild to learn the same language so that as adults they would be able to communicate to anyone anywhere about anything? Or is that the drawback? Minimizing individuality and emphasizing homogeneity?  Translaters would be out of jobs of course. I guess there is a downside to everything if you look hard enough.

Think most people don't give a rat's a** about understanding others or being understood? Too much trouble? Too lazy? Too satisfied with things as they are? Thank you for your reply bh! :)

Esperanto was going over quite well until the Catholic church condemned it (Google Esperanto  + Catholic Church you might find it interesting). Any way a common language could be the corner stone of a United World so I think all kids should be taught Esperanto. Cheers!

So the Catholic Church is against the world's human beings communicating with one another? What devious deceitful nefarious ungodly scheme drives them? Thank you for your reply Nanoose! :)
