At one point long ago a UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE was toyed with. Esperanto. Didn't go over too well. Is talking the same language helpful?

Of course we all prefer our own languages I suppose. But would it be advantageous for every schoolchild to learn the same language so that as adults they would be able to communicate to anyone anywhere about anything? Or is that the drawback? Minimizing individuality and emphasizing homogeneity?  Translaters would be out of jobs of course. I guess there is a downside to everything if you look hard enough.

    Esperanto was going over quite well until the Catholic church condemned it (Google Esperanto  + Catholic Church you might find it interesting). Any way a common language could be the corner stone of a United World so I think all kids should be taught Esperanto. Cheers!
