  • You must have grown up being taught intellect over emotions and thought OK until you find out everyone else wants to be emotional! Twisting and horrifying!

    What is "intellectualia"?

What we call emotions are actually habits. You had to learn when to feel a certain emotion and how to act in each case. You can break habits by learning new habits. Take acting classes.

You can change how you react emotionally, but I would hesitate to equate them with habits.

Emotions are chemicals released in response to our interpretation of a specific trigger. It takes our brains about 1/4 second to identify the trigger, and about another 1/4 second to produce the chemicals. By the way, emotion chemicals are released throughout our bodies, not just in our brains, and they form a kind of feedback loop between our brains & bodies. They last for about six seconds

We don't call those emotions, we call them hormones, and grownups don't have them. We only have habits, which we call emotions.
