I don't live in a democracy. I live in a Constitutional Republic and I'll try to answer your question in that context. There is at least one area where secrecy is a must. That of national security. Complete transparency there would mean that nuclear missile technology, the identities of secret agents, the layouts of military bases, etc, would all be part of the public record. Very few people would deny that keeping some things classified is necessary, the question is where that line is drawn. What do I think is the single greatest enemy of our Constitutional government? In my opinion, it's liberalism. One of the areas where the liberals are a danger is that they are trying to establish a democracy (mob rule) within our Constitutional form of government. To put it plainly, the Left is coming for our rights. As always, just my opinion. :)
