    Nothing is a term that describes a thing.  Therefore it is a thing.

    The state of NO THING is a different matter.  Since there is no matter there is no thing.

    Thank you for your reply Sharon. So if it is a metaphorical/figurative thing it isn't a thing. It has to be corporeal. Take up space, have weight and shape. Love doesn't but that is certainly not a nothing. It is definitely a something.
