Why do we so often expect our so-called political leaders to be spotless and without blemish? Are you spotless?

No one thinks anything you are saying they think.

Because our so-called 'leaders' aspire to positions allowing them to tell us what to do, how to act, what we can do with our bodies, etc., they SHOULD be held to much higher standards. Control (governing, governance and government) is a function of ownership. Our so-called 'leaders' aspire to nothing less than complete OWNERSHIP of every human being under their control.

IF we're going (to be stupid enough to) allow someone to rule/own us, they should be held to MUCH higher standards than those expected of the owned.

Myself being the exception, I suppose.  In fact, as I explain below, I DO think our "so-called" leaders should be spotless.

  • I'm not sure we really do.

But opposition will sieze on every possible flaw

to try to cast opponents in a negative light.

Even the trivial ones are used to inculcate disrespect or distrust.

If someone changes their point of view on an issue that's fair enough -

especially in the light of new information or experience.

I think a politician's sexual, family and personal life should be irrelevant to public office and private.

But any criminal activity, cover-up or fraud,

any aggression, abuse, hate-mongering, or wilful ignorance

deserves to be investigated and fully exposed.

And if found innocent that should be the end of the matter.

If not, kick them out - and remove the pensions and perks.

You are so funny Sharonna. My favorite bi-polar person in the world!... or do you prefer manic depressive?

You don't think as much as you think you do, I rarely see anything original from you. still you are great for entertainment.

Under their control? You really believe the political leaders of this country are in control?

Yes...and no.  When you're on the bottom of the food chain, the difference between boss and middle man is immaterial.  Our leaders may have leaders, but to us it's irrelevant.
