If we can read and write, we have power.
Many find blaming others easier than accepting responsibility.
Yes. Everyone can overcome every single random so-called hardship.
If any kid actually does that, the teacher takes him aside and tells him "Don't get ahead of the class." It's like the kid has a responsibility to act stupid until the teacher gets through the material.
To get children into serious reading, Marguerite, we might have to de-invent many of today's gadgets and gizmos which pre-occupy them most of their waking hours.
You're so right! The teacher is often afraid the child will display greater knowledge about something than she can. We had a girl at school who would often stump our history teacher with lesser known "stories" about some of the great Mughals, much to her chagrin. Her grandfather was a scholar of Indian history.
Once we lean to read, write and "cipher" why do we need teachers for the next 11-years and six months? Schools and teachers are a huge, worthless financial burden on society.
I completely agree.
We cannot blame others for our failures. Even if they had something to do with, when we don't accept personal responsibility, we give away our control to the ones we blame.
The best example of this to me would be Abraham Lincoln.
