    The Power of Now

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy

    The Dune Chronicles

Any of the first 20 Anne Rule books - The Stanger Beside Me etc.

    Sai Baba Man of Miracles

Autobiography of a Yogi  - Yogananda

Biographies and Autobiographies of famous people  -  any of them

In Just Kids, Patti Smith’s first book of prose, the legendary American artist offers a never-before-seen glimpse of her remarkable relationship with photographer Robert Mapplethorpe in the epochal days of New York City and the Chelsea Hotel in the late sixties and seventies.  An honest and moving story of youth and friendship, Smith brings the same unique, lyrical quality to Just Kids as she has to the rest of her formidable body of work—from her influential 1975 album Horses to her visual art and poetry.

Pat Conroy is my favorite author so my list would have a few of his books with my all-time favorite book being his Beach Music.  I loved The Thornbirds (Colleen McCullough), Rebecca  (Daphne DuMaurier ), Anna Karenina (Leo Tolstoy), Pride and Prejudice (Jane Austen ),  Homeland (John Jakes), The Pelican Brief (John Grisham) and about 1000 others could be considered favorites.  Then there are all those that were merely good.

I only considered fiction in answering.

Another friend of mine recommends Smith's book.

I have "The Power of Now" --  it's difficult reading to apply for me (which sort of supports his premise of it all). I've not yet got through it all.

    all fiction ~

    "The Idiot"  Fyodor Dostoevsky

"The Midwich Cuckoos" by John Wyndham  (by far, my favorite title of any book, too)

"We Have Always Lived in the Castle" by Shirley Jackson

"The Plague Dogs" by Richard Adams

"The Beginning of Calamities" by Tom House  (superlative!)

"The Castle" by Franz Kafka  (anything by him could work, though, for me)

"The Taking of Pelham One Two Three" by John Godey (everything I've read by him I've liked)

A different night might have brought up different titles

All the seven Harry Potter books.

    It's really underrated as literature.

Yes! Next time, for sure. I go to that book store a lot. I like actual book stores I can walk around in.

    :)
