Why is it such a bad thing for a 50-something person to act like a teenager?

I still listen to Led Zeppelin, a band I've liked since I was 15, and I still like them now at the age of 54. Doesn't that mean I am acting like a teenager by still listening to them?

  • I worry more about teens who act like 50 year olds.

I'm the same Andy, and I too love Led Zeppelin / Pink Floyd, Whoa!!!  We're as young as we feel.

    It's all good, Andy B!

I'm still acting like every year-age I've been alive -- most every year there has been at least one song I like that I still continue to enjoy.

    :)

  • Led Zeppelin is now the equivalent of Big Band Music, so you are acting your age.

You shouldn't compete with your own teenagers?

  • No Andy, it means you're being you.  Some may disapprove but does it really matter?  They're just annoyed you don't conform to an idea they held.  Some people just don't like being contradicted.  :)

    Just be yourself
    And worry not
    Age does not
    Turn off joy and happiness.
... For me it's turned up. Haha

As a long-time Civic defense worker I have a good example for that.

Teenagers run, they dash, everything they do is 'the most important thing in the world' at least while they are doing it.

Older people say "that is interesting" and think about it a bit before doing anything.

So if a 'yougster' in a civic defense team start running, that is OK. It is what they do.

But if one of the elder members of the team start running, then people seeing it get worried, "what is he running from?", it is likely to start a panic.

So the rule is clear and explicit: "No running unless you are under 25 years old.
