I've gotten into arguments that the late actor Christopher Reeve was indeed "Reeve" and not "Reeves."

Gwyneth Paltrow. People always want to call her "Gwen-eth."

Wow, that's interesting. He doesn't strike me that way but who knows what people are like? It's not like I knew him or anything.

    Rihanna.
    Don’t say Ree-AH-nuh… Instead say: Ree-AN-uh

Did I get it right? - - like with an another spelling, maybe, Ree-ANNE-uh? I was unsure on how to pronounce "AN," sorry. This post was edited by WelbyQuentin at August 12, 2018 11:50 PM MDT

I've always heard it said correctly. Unless someone is intentionally saying it a different way for some specific reason.

I was thinking the same thing. In my question I was thinking more of people actually saying names incorrectly but the people were unaware of doing it. I didn't make that clear in my question, though.

No, but I don't pay attention to them.  I did recently learn that Angela Merkel's name is pronounced Ahngala rather than the way we pronounce it here, Anjela.

Thanks, Thriftymaid. I regret I don't even know who the person is. I've been out of it lately, though.

EDIT: Oh, my, forgive me. Just seconds after posting my comment, I looked her up. Geez -- yes, I know who she is. This post was edited by WelbyQuentin at August 13, 2018 10:10 PM MDT
