I could make an argument that clowns populate every religion:  That said, if you’ve ever read the founding tenets of say, Mormonism or Scientology, you’d likely surmise clowns have been forming their own religions for a long time....

Indeed. It makes me wonder if atheists would be taken more seriously if we got our own funny hats...

Well, I see the clown as an archetype.  A universal symbol, so to speak, that can be understood instantly all over the globe.

All archetypes have light and shadow sides.

The clown as a light being would be someone who lives to delight others and doesn't mind having a laugh at his expense.  He is the ultimate giver.  If he is a good clown and loves his role.

But the shadow side is someone who uses a clown as a disguise.

Someone who tries to gain trust only to do harm and someone who delights in evil.

I imagine all types of ancient tribes had a sacred clown.  I also imagine that the idea of a clown heaven stems from that ancient idea.

    Good clown.  Emmet Kelley

    Bad clown  IT.

And stupid clown who doesn't even know he is one.

Nice. Somehow I was sure you’d tie it all together with a bow.
