I've been in several Subways so I am not a bigot. They smell. All the ones I have been in smell like bad cleaning disinfectant. P.U.?

Our local one smells of petrol (gasoline to you Yanks). Probably because it's located in a service station. I get take out, I don't eat there.

All the ones I've been in smell like salami and meatballs.  
(and that's not a double-entendre.  LOL)

I go there only rarely.. .been in several.. even one in Toronto airport :) I've not noticed a cleaning fluid smell yet - only food smells, the like of which aren't my favourite. 

Is there a question in there?

I have been on one actual subway.  I won't again.  That was the first trip to NY,NY.  We used taxis after that one ride.  Back then taxis weren't that horribly expensive.  They are pretty expensive now though.  I have no plan to visit up there again.   I won't say never though.
