Fair, treats everyone with respect, asks their opinions, makes them feel involved and valued. Able to give constructive criticism or teach if the employee doesn't know how to do something, rather than criticise..Also, I prefer someone to say up front if they don't like something I do, rather than go whine about it to someone else. I prefer to know where I stand.. cannot stand supervisors who are nice to your face but whine non-stop and gripe behind my back.
Steve Jobs said, "It doesn't make sense to hire smart people and tell them what to do; we hire smart people so they can tell us what to do.” If you are a control freak as a leader or manager, you are the barrier to your own growth. Don't hire robots who follow all your orders. I had an excellent supervisor once. That was when I did my best work and made the biggest difference.
