Discussion»Questions»Television and Movies» Why do actors, even the ones who don't smoke, always have a Zippo lighter when they want to light a fuse or blow up a car?
The remember before leaving home. "Oops, Today is the day I blow up the capitol" and take along their Zippo.
Actually it is not always a Zippo. I remember one hilarious danish movie where the mad Anarchist brought a box of matches to light the fuse on his bomb; after a good while of trying with match after math the box is empty, he gets furious and throws it at the horrible Capitalist anyway, As the bomb passes him the horrible Capitalist flick the ashes off his cigar inadvertently lighting the fuse, so all ends well; a pond at the side of the road gets blown up.
PS: Looking into the cap pf the Zippo lighter in the original photo, I looks like the cap is full of lighter fluid. Could that be true? looks pretty dangerous to me.

Sometimes they sponsor the movie for just that reason ALF suggested. Advertising. It's all about marketing.
Bic and Zippo have to bid a movie out. Now-a-days it does seem funny when the character doesn't smoke but they are caring a lighter. In the old days it was a handkerchief for the damsel in distress. Now-a-days it is a lighter.
