Modern jet engines have silencers. But to install a silencer on a leaf blower would add extra weight and cost more.  Same with hair dryers.

Leaf blowers are the bane of my existence.  I live in a neighborhood where there is a lot of greenery and the use of leaf blowers is rampant.  Some are more noisy than others.  Some are used for an unneccessarily long period of time.  Going over the same spot again and again when the leaves/grass have been blown away is nonsensical.

The Street  Sweeper is due tomorrow so Jim did his twice-a-month thing. He waited till about 8:30am to make sure he didn't awaken anyone. We have  a relatively small front yard and two side alley-type areas and even then it takes about an hour! He is isn't the only one who does it either! AARRGGHH! Thank you for your reply L! :) This post was edited by RosieG at September 9, 2018 12:49 PM MDT

Everyone around here does it.  If it isn't our groundskeeper, it's the landscaping people across the street.  If it isn't them, it's someone else.  It's almost every day - unless it's raining.
