    Same instrument. Different position when playing and the type/speed of the playing. 
    Fiddle is usually at the waist but can be the neck. Is usually country or bluegrass and faster play.
    Violin is always at the neck and slower normally classical music.

    Same thing. Same instrument. Just used in popular music is often termed a "fiddle" I guess because some people think "violin" is a too "high-toned" designation!.
