Do you like Avocados? No, no - it is for generating laughter and fun.

Now I have finally the explanation for my disliking avocados - haha..... I ate one little piece once 10 years ago, and that was enough...But I am aware of the high nutritional value of Avocado.

  • I hope this post is not misplaced. Maybe some of you remember that I can be a little funky. Life is good!

From what I remember, I really disliked the texture of the avocado - - I didn't quite like the taste but the 'feel' of it in my mouth was unappealing to me. I remember at the time equating it with a rotten hard-boiled egg.

  • You describe exactly what I felt biting the first time into one. Good nutrition does not equal necessarily good taste..

I know I certainly wasn't much of a fan! I've not eaten one since! Ha!

There are 20 minutes in the life of an individual Hass avocado when the taste is sublime---and its pretty darn good unless it's rock hard or way soft.

Might want to give it another try.

Don't like the way they feel, look  or smell -- inside or out.........no need to taste.

  • Good for you. Lulu'sMom! From what I remember, about half of its mass is "good fat". When it comes to good fat, I rather take spoonfuls of Extra Virgin Olive oil - - and then clear the throat with a Vodka.

If you are in the need for good fat, a handful of walnuts would be good too.

  • That is true. I can eat lots of "bad" fat without changing my wonderful Cholesterol level. I love Walnuts.

There are two types of Avacardo ...one smooth skinned and the other rough or dimpled.....
They are both highly nutritious.....One is high in cholesterol and the other is not....
Which one is which I can never remember....
With large prawns and a sea food sauce avacardos are delicious.... I don't like them though if either are over ripe..
If slightly under ripe they are nice in any salad ,although not to much of them...:)

Fuerte and Hass---smooth skinned vs dimpled.  (and there are other varities)

Never heard of cholesterol being a negative for any avocado---and I did a quick search just now.

I was told that by a doctor that worked in a hospital years ago....I never researched it myself though..

I just just googled it and it says avacardos are shown to lower cholesterol.........There we go,don't believe all you read..:(

  • I'm from California, so yes, I love them. We're obsessed with them here. I like them on sandwiches, burgers, in sushi, burritos, and as guacamole. :)
