Discussion»Questions»Education» Do you ever avoid using the words "affect" and "effect" because you're not sure which one is correct for what you're writing or saying? ~
Not at all. Affect is a verb, effect is a noun. I do sometimes confuse Aflac with Affleck. I know one's a guy and one's a duck.

Nope. I have to use both of them frequently in the documentation I do for work. But I've never been affected by the effects of incorrect usage of those words.
I never did until someone told me there was a difference. Since that day, my writing has never been the same. I try to remember them by "a" is for action and "e" is for everything else. Still, I'm paranoid and avoid them at all costs.
